DJ Statik is a big part of Duck Down’s recent resurgance and is one of the top DJ’s in New York. He is from Lawrence (Boston, MA.) but moved to N.Y. in 2007 to pursue his career in music production full-time and build relationships with hip-hop acts.

DJ Statik began making beats when he was 11 using a Gemini 16 sampler and he started working odd jobs when he was 12. He worked as a dishwasher at a restaurant, a cashier at Mc Donald’s, a packer at Fed-Ex, and an employee at Friendly’s (East Coast restaurant chain).

During his high school days DJ Statik was able to sustain himself DJing parties and clubs.

In 2000, DJ Statik pursued an audio production B.A. at Boston’s New England Institute of Art and started putting out his own mixtapes.

In 2003, he became a marketer with Reebok, G-Unit Records, Virgin Records, Capital, Universal Records, Diddy’s Vote or Die campaign as clients.

In 2006, DJ Statik began releasing albums on his own label, Showoff Records and occasionally contributing production for other artists.

He has also overseen the careers of many rappers (Action Bronson, Joey Bada$, Pro Era, Jared Evan, Reks, and fellow Bay stater).
