Early Humpday morning, the 28-year-old Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill let the cat ouf of the bag that former child star Drake used a ghostwriter and didn't write his own rhymes.
An incensed Meek Mill tweeted:
"Stop comparing drake to me too. He don't write his own raps! He ain't even write that verse on my album and if I woulda knew I woulda took it off my album."Drake is featured on Meek Mill’s recent single “R.I.C.O.” from his critically hailed second studio album Dreams Worth More Than Money but now claims Aubrey Drake Graham (best known for his starring role for his role as Jimmy Brooks on the Nickeloden TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation) didn’t write his lyrics on the track and that he’s a big phony who routinely employs a ghostwriter. Enter Quentin Miller.
The ATLien is a member of the OVO camp and alternative hip-hop collective WDNG Crshrs (Wedding Crashers) . In 2014, he released a tape entitled Hey, Thanks Alot 2. He is also credited as a writer on 5 songs that appear on Drake's first retail mixtape "If You're Redaing This It's Too Late" (10 Bands, 6 Man, Used To, Know Yourself, and No Tellin') and Meek Mill's latest single "R.I.C.O." featuring a guest verse from Drake.
Drake and Meek Mill's beef just went way beyond a silly Twitter war -- because an alternate version of a Drake hit was just leaked ... and it features the alleged ghostwriter's vocals and verses. The song is "10 Bands" ... and Quentin Miller's version is damn near identical to Drake's. Funkmaster Flex first played it late Wednesday on NYC's Hot 97 ... throwing gasoline on the fire Meek started by accusing Drake of not writing his own raps -- a HUGE insult in hip hop. Meek and a few other rappers are claiming Drake used Quentin's take as a reference to record his final version. For what it's worth ... Miller does have credits on several Drake tracks, including "10 Bands."Drake's remained silent about the allegation -- except for a comment to a friend on social media ... "I signed up for greatness. This comes with it."We're reaching out for Drake's response to the Miller track. Hot 97’s own Funkmaster Flex decided to take to the airwaves tonight and leak the reference track that Miller recorded for Drake’s “10 Bands” song."I got this from someone in Drake's camp," Flex said. "They reached out. They saw me keeping it 100 on [Instagram.]"And according to Flex's unknown source, Drake is paying Miller $5,000 per month from the OVO Sound Label.
