Jessie Spencer Interviews Up-And-Coming Tampa, Florida Rapper Lil' Harper (@lilharper_)

This weekend I caught up with up-and-coming Tampa, Florida rapper Lil' Harper who is currently working on his first full-length album that is as yet untitled ("I'm working on thos free album right now. I don't have a name but it's gonma be fresh. It'll be produced by me.") But Lil' Harper has already gardened a tremendous buzz with songs like Blue Pill, How Many, and his newest single Money Crazy

During our conversation over the phone, Lil' Harper refered to Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and Travis Scott as some of  idols and favorite rappers ("I listen to alot of music, man. I get influenced by everything from Toro Y Moi, Kid Cudi, Travis Scott, and Kanye West. I listen to those dudes religiously. Right now I'm listening to Travis Scott's new album, Kid Cudi's Man On The Man 2, and Lil' Uzi Vert.")

Lil' Harper also said he wants to work alongside Travis Scott in the future and record an entire album with super producer Metro Boomin' ("I wanna work with Travis Scott and do an entire tape produced by Metro Boomin'.")

Lil' Harper grew up in Tampa, Florida and at a young age developed a love for hip hop music and aspired to become a hip hop star ("My favorite album of all time is a tie between Man On The Moon and 808's & Heartbreak. Man I can listen to those albums for any situation, any time of the day. My goal before I die is to be remembered as a fucking rockstar. Sorta like a Sid Vicious.")

He started rapping two years ago in his senior year in high school and would freestyle for your friends and they urged him to pursue a career in rap seriously ("I started rapping 2 years ago my Senior year in high school. I used to just make songs about people kind of like Lil B does or used to. People loved it and I was famous for a few months and I was like "This shit is tight." So I started to take it seriously that summer after I graduated").

Harper soon taking rapping seriously and began uploading his music on Soundcloud. After a short time on the audio distribution platform, Harper became a huge Soundcloud star and now that his music has amassed over 100,000 hits on Soundcloud he is gearing up to release his self-produced debut album which will be a free download and arriving on DatPiff soon.
