Watch the First Episode of Fox's new TV Sreies Wayward Pines on FOX ON DEMAND!

U.S. special agent Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) wakes up in the middle of nowhere  after being unconscious for several hours unable to determine where he is. Apparently Ethan was in a car accident with his partner conducting a missing persons investigation and we find out later that Ethan has a wife and a teen son back in Seattle, washington. Their missing colleagues (Ethan’s former partner/former sidechick Kate whom he had a torrid affair with and Agent Evans). Ethan befriends a bartender named Beverly and tries to contact his wife using a rotary phone. Ethan then continues to conduct his investigation and finds Agent Evan’s decomposing body in an abandoned worn down building. Agent Evans had been tortured and mutilated. His hands are tied to the headboard of the bed and there was tape put over mouth. 

After seeing this Ethan tries to contact his wife Theresa Burke again and the secret service bureau in Seattle but is unsuccessful.

By this time Ethan Burke realizes that the inhabitants of Wayward Pines are being controlled and manipulated by an unseen outside force but we probablly won’t find out who until later on the series.

M. Night Shyamalan is paying homage to cult 1990s television show Twin Peaks with his new surreal show Wayward Pines. A show that alot of people probably don’t remember but it was groundbreaking when it first aired. It had the same elements as the surreal Wayward Pines (stylish Hollywood crime drama in a fictional small town and mysterious inhabitants with hidden agendas)
